Where to collect email address’

Vertical Response gives us some really good suggestions (11 in fact) on places to collect email address’.

If you have been asked (and who hasn’t) to try and collect email address’, this post is for you.

While one of the suggestions is to collect them in the purchase confirmation, I would take it one step further and see if you can involve the email ask in all of your triggered or transactional email. Since you likely have a captive audience in these messages, give some incentive or reason for people to want to receive email from you.  Then when you, give them options.
